The Gaia Institute is located in the easternmost section of the Bronx on City Island. Full of character and surrounded by valuable ecosystems, City Island has provided the Gaia Institute with countless opportunities and inspirations for research, design, testing, and implementation of our work.
To visit the Gaia Institute by public transportation:
- Take the uptown 6 train to the last stop: Pelham Bay Station.
- After exiting the train, go down the first flight of stairs, and after exiting the turnstile, make a right and go down the second flight of stairs. There are a number of bus stops. Take the Bx29 bus to City Island (NOT to Co-op City). It comes 3-4 times per hour. (View schedule)
- After an 8-10 minute ride you will be on City Island. Once on the island, exit the bus at the second traffic light (directly in front of the IGA grocery store).
- Cross the street and walk back one block to 440 City Island Avenue. Our office is located on the first floor of a yellow building.
